This is how holiday rental owners described Kotor

The old town of Kotor is one of the best preserved medieval towns in this part of the Mediterranean. It managed to retain its original shape, so typical of cities between the XII and XIV centuries.

Every single building you see in the old town has a history and is ...

an architectural work of art. As you walk through the narrow streets of this medieval city, you get the feeling of going back in time.

The narrow streets and the asymmetrical structure of the squares, combined with many valuable examples of medieval architecture, have contributed to Kotor being placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Enjoy a walk along the old fortification system in Kotor (4.5 km long, 20 m high and 10 m wide wall) built to protect the city from the enemy. San Giovanni Castle is located on top of the hill high above Kotor and has served as a protective fort for centuries. Take time to visit the magnificent Cathedral of St. Tryphon's (from the XII century) for a representative monument of Roman architecture in the Adriatic.

Our absolute recommendation is if you are planning a stay in Montenegro, take the time to visit Kotor's old town.
