The little medieval town of Sansepolcro, on the Tuscan side of the Tiber valley, is a place full of art, culture and history. This was the setting for the idea of an agriturismo at the heart of nature. La Conca is a large holiday farm with an active agricultural enterprise and a close connection to the surrounding nature. The estate has about 300 hectares of forest and meadows, where fallow deer, moufflons, deer and horses live and roam freely.

Your accommodation is in old stone farmhouses, which have been carefully restored and furnished with rustic furniture. They each have a cosy fireplace. On site there are also a large taverna and a private chapel. You have free access to the large plot of land with its stretches of forest and meadows. There are many leisure options, such as swimming pools, riding, archery or boccia. You can also go on guided hikes, riding excursions or mountain biking tours. The area is ideal for observing and photographing wild animals or gathering mushrooms, chestnuts and other forest fruits. The quiet and green surroundings and the variety of flora and fauna, and not least the impressive views of the landscape, form part of a special holiday experience.

In the outdoor areas near the houses there are pools, as well as barbecue areas for dining outdoors, a wood-burning oven for pizza lovers, boccia alleys for relaxing afternoons with friends, as well as play equipment for children. Local walks are organised for nature lovers. You can observe many wild animals from platforms: fallow deer, moufflons, deer, wild boar, porcupines, badgers, foxes, squirrels and a wide array of birds. During the appropriate seasons, you can also gather mushrooms, chestnuts and other forest fruits. The owners live in one of the farmhouses opposite “Casale La Conca”, where there is also the reception.

The special geographical location of Sansepolcro, bordering four Italian regions, makes it easy to get to countless art and culture cities: Arezzo, Cortona, Florence, Siena, Perugia, Gubbio, Urbino and the city state of San Marino. There are also the charms of the upper Tiber valley itself, with its wonderful nature and its countless art and culture sites, as well as a rich gastronomy. The agriturismo La Conca is happy to help you to discover this wealth of nature and culture on hikes and tours, and to enjoy it to the full.

Borgo di Santarsa farmhouse

The Borgo di Santarsa farmhouse is in the upper part of the site at about 800 metres above sea level and with a wonderful view of Sansepolcro. This typical Tuscan farmhouse from the 16th century was restored and renovated using traditional and original materials such as brick, stone and wood.

The large, rustic dining room provides a fireplace, a TV with satellite reception and plenty of tables, benches and chairs, so that all guests can enjoy meals together. The kitchen is equipped with a large stove, fridge, freezer and dishwasher, as well as plenty of crockery and accessories for catering for a large group. In total the property comprises six apartments with 13 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. Each apartment has its own fully-equipped kitchen. The first apartment has a bedroom with its own bathroom, the second apartment has two bedrooms with two single beds and a bathroom, the third apartment provides two bedrooms with a double bed and two single beds, the fourth apartment has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with three single beds, as well as a bathroom, the fifth comprises three bedrooms, of which two each have three single beds and one has two single beds, along with three bathrooms, while the sixth apartment has three bedrooms each with two single beds and two bathrooms. Wireless Internet access is available throughout the house free of charge.

Outside there is also plenty of space to dine together on the large, roofed terrace with a view over the valley. The original bread and pizza baking oven and two barbecue areas are ideal for preparing meals outdoors. The sun terrace and the private pool invite you to relax. The house is also equipped with a washing machine, an iron and ironing board, firewood and a children’s playground. It is possible to observe a range of wild animals.

    “Das Anwesen, bestehend aus einem Haupthaus (beherbergt mehrere 2- und 3-Bett-Zimmer, jeweils mit Dusche/WC sowie Apartments mit eigener Küche/Aufenthaltsraum, einen großen Gemeinschaftsraum und eine große Gemeinschaftsküche), einem Nebengebäude / Kapelle (nochmals ein 2-Bett-Zimmer im Dachgeschoss der Kapelle), einem Pool (ca. 130cm tief, ca. 8m lang, 4m breit) und einem Backhaus (ein Holzbackofen --> Pizza backen für Geübte! 2 Grillstellen, Holz für 3€ / Eimer) und großer Terrasse, liegt außer- und oberhalb von Sansepolcro inmitten eines Wäldchens (selbst mit 30 Personen kann man dort nicht genug Krach machen, um tatsächlich eine Ruhestörung zu riskieren... ;-) ). Selbst der Besitzer / Vermieter, der ca. 400m Luftlinie entfernt wohnt, wird nicht gestört.

    Die Zufahrt ist abenteuerlich (schmale, teilweise steile, und etwas ausgefahrene / ausgewaschene Schotterpiste), aber selbst mit vollgepackten 9-Sitzer-Kleinbussen, etwas Schwung und einer guten Kupplung problemlos zu schaffen! ;-) Anreise / Bezug üblicherweise ab 16 Uhr, mit Ankündigung ggf. auch früher. Abreise bis spätestens 10 Uhr.

    Die Räume inkl. Dusche/WC waren allesamt sauber und urig-gemütlich. Bettdecken, Kissen und - für Italien eher ungewöhnlich: harte - Matratzen waren ebenfalls in Ordnung. Hausstauballergiker sollten allerdings dringendst eigenes Bettzeug mitbringen!

    Die Küche ist gut genug ausgestattet (u.a. 2 große Töpfe à 50 Liter, 5-Flammen-Gasherd, raumhoher Kühlschrank, Eisschrank, Industriespülmaschine, Backofen...), um 30 Personen verpflegen zu können. Anstelle einer Kaffeemaschine finden sich lediglich Espressokocher in verschiedenen Größen - das ist vielleicht für Kaffeetrinker interessant zu wissen. Eine ordentliche Küchenreibe sucht man übrigens ebenfalls vergebens. Aber ansonsten: alles da und einen Brötchenservice (auf Nachfrage) gibt's auch!

    Im Aufenthaltsraum und auf der Terrasse stehen jeweils genug Tische und Stühle, um dort mit 30 Personen essen zu können. Eine wetterfeste Tischtennisplatte (Schläger und Bälle mitbringen!) ist ebenfalls vorhanden. Bogenschießen (15€ / Tag zzgl. entflogene Pfeile) ist auf dem hauseigenen Gelände möglich. Alles in allem ein sehr schönes Plätzchen zum Erholen, Entspannen, Feiern, Sporteln, ... Den Preis (bei uns weniger als 100€ / Person und Woche) und die (für uns lange, 10-stündige) Anfahrt auf jeden Fall wert!”
