This beautiful cottage is located on the Bakketun homestead, high and free above the Sjoa gorge.

Here you have a breathtaking view of the mountains and a good starting point for activities, be it ?hygge? in the cabin or out in nature to extreme sports. The water in the cottage is spring water from 120 meters deep. Heidal is the village on the wild river Sjoa between the national parks Jotunheimen and Rondane, Peer Gynt and Kristin Lavransdatter. The fjords of western Norway can be reached on day trips. The village is one of the best preserved in Norway with over 100 protected houses, living traditional culture, local crafts and high quality regional food such as the famous Heidals cheese. Hotel Heidal has a local butcher shop. Through the Norwegian Rafting Center, Sjoa has become internationally known as Northern Europe's best rafting river. Within the municipality of Sel, trout fishing in the river is free, otherwise you need a fishing license in the many fishing waters.

The great wildlife features moose, reindeer and large birds, among others. On the visitor farm Glittersjå live tame moose, primeval sheep, wild boars and other exciting animals. In 5 km you can see alpacas. A short walk up Gardfjell and you have a view of Heidalsmuen mountain opposite, overlooking three national parks at once, Dovrefjell being the third. A neighbor offers a ride on a horse-drawn sleigh, this must be arranged with the homeowner well in advance of arrival. About 5 km from here you can see alpacas.
